Position Overview:
Athletes in Action is offering a unique opportunity to do a joint internship with our Youth and Campus ministries. The intern will have the opportunity to experience what ministry with AIA is like through ministering to athletes on Campus and helping to run sports camps in the summer. Locations available across Canada.
All AIA Staff are responsible for aiding in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of Athletes in Action in their respective spheres and beyond. Our hope is to see a world transformed by the gospel through sport and we labour with God to see this happen. During the campus season this role consists of helping those in varsity athletics discover Jesus, grow in their faith, develop their unique potential and put their faith into action as they impact the world.
During the camp season this role consists of creating spaces for young children to hear and know Jesus through the implementation of summer sport camps with partnering churches in the area. These sports include soccer, basketball, volleyball and multi-sport. Through their position, coaches will engage with athletes from the grassroots level, all the way to competitive athletes at the end of their high school careers. Coaches will be expected to combat negative views of sport culture with the gospel, while inspiring churches to reach their local community.
Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week: 12 month internship (8 months Campus, 4 months Youth)

Wage: $16.00/hour
Hours: 20 hours/week, Tuesday to Saturday, evening work required
Position Summary:
The Garden Program Worker will assist with duties to maintain the beauty of the Victorian Garden at Daly House museum with the goal of improving our visitor's over all site experience. The Garden Program Worker will also assist with communicating with garden program participants, co-facilitating garden programs and events.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining the Victorian Garden including: planting, watering, weed removal, deadheading, and mowing grass
- Assist in the maintenance and organization of the garden shed and tools
- Work cooperatively with garden volunteers to complete gardening tasks
- Work cooperatively with volunteers to complete gardening tasks
- Assist with planning and facilitating garden programs and events
- Support with ongoing and final program evaluations activities
- Perform other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
- Ability to work on feet and perform physical activities for extended periods
- Ability to lift heavy/large objects, such as bags of soil and gardening equipment
- Willingness to work in all kinds of weather
- CPR and First Aid Certificates would be useful
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, volunteers, and community members
Qualifications
- Experience in horticulture and/or gardening an asset
- Experience working with volunteers in a community setting
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, socio-economic levels, gender identities and abilities.
- Excellent communications skills in English; ability to speak additional languages as asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience with multi-tasking in a busy environment

Urban Green Team: Assiniboine Forest and Harte Trail
The Charleswood Rotary Club, Friends of the Harte Trail Inc. and Nature Manitoba are looking to hire individuals to assist with park maintenance projects in Assiniboine Forest, Harte Trail and natural areas in west Winnipeg. This includes trail maintenance, park cleanup, invasive species removal, planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, and wildflowers.
PROJECT LOCATION: Assiniboine Forest, the Harte Trail, and natural areas in west Winnipeg MB
PROJECT/JOB DESCRIPTION: Assiniboine Forest encompasses 287 hectares of aspen-oak forest, wetlands, and small meadows. Numerous trails run through the forest and require maintenance during the spring and summer months. The Harte Trail extends from the south end of Assiniboine Forest to the west perimeter highway in Charleswood. These parks link with the riparian forest along the Assiniboine River, forming a valuable habitat and wildlife corridor within the city. Annual maintenance is required in these parks, including pruning, maintaining tree plantings, and removing invasive species.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and build trails, spread woodchips, prune trees and shrubs
- Assist with invasive species control, debris cleanup, graffiti removal, and emptying garbage bins
- Assist with planting and maintenance of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolment in post-secondary education with a specialization in Environmental Science/Studies, Biology, Ecology, Horticulture, or a related field
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Willingness to work outdoors (under adverse conditions, at times)
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public
- Interest in and general knowledge of Winnipeg's natural areas an asset
- Manitoba Class 5 driver's license and experience operating off-road vehicles an asset
WAGE: $16.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay. 28-hour workweek (Monday-Thursday) or 35-hour workweek (Monday-Friday) depending on funding. Part- time position is available (21-hour workweek).
Potential for 4 positions (dependent on funding).
ANTICIPATED TERM: June - August 2026. Dependent on funding.
