Canadian Applicant Next Steps and Deadlines

Step 1:

Submit required documents

  • Log into your application portal to upload unofficial/interim copies of your transcripts and other required documents for admission.
  • When an admission decision is released, you can view your decision letter in your application portal.
  • Please Note: Final official transcripts are required for final admission and must be sent directly from your previous institution(s) or through MyCreds to CMU. If you can request final official transcripts immediately, please submit these instead of unofficial copies.

Step 2:

Accept your admission and scholarship offers

  • To accept your admission and scholarship offers, submit your reply to offer form and pay your non-refundable tuition deposit through your application portal. Tuition deposit amounts are as follows.
    • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Therapy, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Social Work: $200.
    • Bachelor of Education: $500.
  • If you have been offered scholarships, your reply to offer form and tuition deposit are due May 15.
  • If you have been admitted to the Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Music Therapy, or Bachelor of Social Work, you must submit your reply to offer form and pay your tuition deposit within two weeks of your admission date to secure your spot in the program.

Step 3:

Apply for CMU scholarships and awards

  • Applications for CMU scholarships and awards are open in January and February.
  • To be considered, submit your scholarships and awards application and any supporting documentation through your application portal before February 28.

Step 4:

Apply for on-campus housing

  • Starting on March 1, you can submit your application for on-campus housing through your application portal.
  • Your housing application must be accompanied by two references and your non-refundable $100 housing deposit.

Step 5:

Log in to your CMU email

  • You'll receive the log in credentials for your CMU email in May.
  • Check your CMU email regularly for important information about new student orientation and the start of classes.
HELPFUL TIP! You can forward your CMU email to another email address you check regularly, so you don't miss anything!

Step 6:

Register for classes

  • Course registration for new students opens on May 15.
  • New students are strongly encouraged to book an in-person or virtual appointment with an Aacademic Advisor to register for courses.
  • Please Note: You must submit your reply to offer form and pay your non-refundable tuition deposit before you can register.

Step 7:

Apply for government student aid and CMU bursaries

  • Apply for provincial and federal grants, bursaries, and loans through the student aid body of your home province.
  • Government student aid applications usually open in June.
  • Once you have applied for government student aid, you can also apply for CMU bursaries.
  • The deadline to apply for CMU bursaries is June 20.

Step 8:

Submit your final official transcripts

  • Submit your final official transcripts to the Admissions Office by the following deadlines.
    • Bachelor of Education: June 15.
    • Bachelor of Social Work: August 15.
    • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Therapy, or Bachelor of Science: August 31.
  • If you have completed fewer than 30 credit hours of post-secondary education, you are required to submit transcripts from high school and all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • If you have completed more than 30 credit hours of post-secondary education, you may not be required to submit high school transcripts but must submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • If you have questions about which transcripts are required, please contact your Admissions Counsellor.

Step 9:

Register for orientation and submit outstanding forms

  • Register for new student orientation and submit any outstanding forms in your application portal by August 31.
  • Please Note: If you are admitted to the Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Music Therapy, or Bachelor of Social Work, you are required to submit additional documents (e.g., Criminal Record Check) before August 31. Please refer to your admission letter for more information.

Step 10:

Arrive on campus!

  • Move into residence, attend new student orientation, and go to class!
  • Please arrive on campus prepared to pay your tuition and fees for the fall semester.
  • Your fall semester tuition and fees are due on September 11.
