At CMU, you can begin the journey toward a professional career—like medicine, law, nursing, or veterinary medicine—by completing the prerequisites these programs require. This is called pre-professional studies.
Start at CMU to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation. Then carry that strength with you as you apply to the professional program of your choice.
For example, if you want to be a doctor, medical schools require a set of science and humanities courses before you can even apply. You can take those courses at CMU in small classes, where professors know you, challenge you, and help you thrive. Then, you’ll be ready to apply to medical school, fully and confidently prepared.
Most students complete a full CMU degree before entering professional programs like medicine or law.
So, while you won’t be studying dentistry or kinesiology at CMU, you will be taking the courses that get you there. In other words: you bring the dream, and we’ll help you make it happen.
