Director of Information Technology
Ryan Rempel is a graduate of Canadian Mennonite Bible College (BTh, 1985), and went on to study philosophy and law. He served as a lawyer in the federal Department of Justice for many years. However, information technoloogy was always a passion along the way. This started early, with a summer job at CMBC setting up a research database for Waldemar Janzen. Other information technology projects followed in each new employment and volunteer position—notably, setting up Mennonite Central Committee's first web site and administering it for several years.
Since leaving the Department of Justice, Ryan has worked professionally as a web-application developer and system administrator. Notable projects included a real-time collaborative presentation tool for use in classrooms, and an offline-first mobile application for conducting group health assessments for medical clinics in Rwanda.
Now as Director of Information Technology at CMU, Ryan provides leadership and supervision to the IT Department, and is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of CMU's entire computing environment.
