Work in Detail

Teaching

I teach creative writing by genre.  The genres are: short fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.

On occasion, I teach contemporary Asian and Asian North American literature in English or translated into English.

Research

My current research area is in translation.  I do collaborative work with other poets to translate German poetry into English.  And I continue translating the work of Misuzu Kaneko into English and attend translation conferences or Asian Studies conferences to present on her work and on translation in general.

Performance

I do readings and presentations of my work when asked.

Community

I am a professing Christian and belong to St. Margaret's Anglican Church.  I belong also to The Writers Union of Canada, the Manitoba Writers Guild, and Canadian Creative Nonfiction Collective. I'm also a member of the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba.
